Our firm was established in 1984 as Breck Barton & Associates, P.A. by Attorney, Breck Barton. At that time Mr. Barton had 8 years prior experience in the accident and injury litigation field and, after a substantial tenure with his old firm, determined he could better serve his clients by instituting his own law firm.
Since that time, our firm has handled a variety of matters and claims. This includes claims in the following fields: Product Liability; Adverse Drug Reaction; Motor Vehicle Accidents; Medical Malpractice; Premises Liability; Wrongful Death; Breach of Contract; Business Matter, Insurance Litigation; Estate and Trust Planning; Probate and Trust Administration for Decedents; Collections; and Domestic Relations, including Divorce, Abuse, Child Custody, and Adoption.
Marcia began working at the firm as a paralegal in 2003 before attending law school. She became an associate attorney with the firm in 2009. In 2017, she left the firm after being elected as Fremont County’s Prosecuting Attorney. After serving as the Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney for four years, she chose not to run for re-election in 2020 and decided to go back to private practice. Marcia returned to Breck Barton & Associates in January of 2021. Marcia is an experienced family law and criminal law attorney. She also has experience with medical malpractice, personal injury, and estate planning.
In January of 2020 Steven Atkinson joined the firm. Steven is a valued asset to our firm and specializes in criminal law, family law, social security disability, estate planning, and immigration.
In August of 2021 our firm name changed from Breck Barton & Associates. P.A. to Barton Atkinson & Murdoch, P.C. Our Attorneys and support staff, are highly experienced in many areas of the law and are committed to the best interests of our clients. Both Mr. Barton and Mr. Atkinson speak Spanish and are able to help and communicate with people who may feel more comfortable speaking Spanish.
